Email Etiquette Tips
  Tffany's Tip of the Month
Are you getting swamped with emails? Email is supposed to be a convenience; however, it can be a headache when people do not know how to use it properly.

To ensure that you are not contributing to email abuse, here are some guidelines that will help:

    1) Always include a subject line. Not only is this efficient for your reader but also for you as a sender. Match the topic of your email with your subject so you and your receiver can find and file the email. Emails without subject lines connote spam.

    2) Do not "reply all" unless the sender requests it. Reply directly to the sender only especially for meeting requests, voting, and sending documents. No one wants to ride the email train of everyone's responses.

    3) Use proper grammar and spellcheck your emails. As with any written communication, email reflects your professionalism and level of education. Improper grammar and misspelled words also "send a message" that the receiver isn't important enough for you to spend the time and effort to send a proper email.

For more information on email etiquette, contact us for a workshop on this topic. Happy Emailing!
