Tiffany's Tip of the Month
Even in today's economy, you can increase your
salary by becoming certified in project management.
The Project Management Institute (PMI®) recently did
a global study of over 35,000 project managers. Those
with PMI's PMP® (Project Management Professional)
credential earned 10% more in salary. Over 10 years,
this increase amounted to over $100,000 more income
for those who earned a PMP when compared to project
managers without this highly desired, world-wide
certification.
One of my clients, a well-known satellite company, had an IT job fair in which 700 applicants submitted their resumes. In order for the manager to even begin the screening process, he took the resumes of people who had PMPs and put them on the top of the pile. For project managers, clearly, getting a PMP
credential is a smart career and financial move. |

Newmont Nevada Energy Investments Ltd., partnering with Fluor Enterprises, Inc. was awarded the 2009 Project Management Institute (PMI®) Project of the Year Award at the annual PMI Global Congress held on October 10-13, 2009 in Orlando, Florida. They were given this international honor after building a 242- megawatt coal-fired power plant near Elko, Nevada. Newmont and Flour delivered this project 10 weeks ahead of schedule, saving $25 million while battling a talent shortage and seismic activity. This project endured 3 million work hours without a single lost-time accident. PMI's Northern Nevada chapter is hosting a keynote speech on this project on July 24, 2010, at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, NV. We're proud that the project management training that
Achievement Consulting & Training has provided to the
Nevada Area Regional Office for the last four years has
paid off in world-wide recognition for the TS Power
Plant project. |
