Is this the most stressful time of year?
  Tffany's Tip of the Month
Instead of singing "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year", many people feel that it's the most stressful time of the year. Why? Well, first there are the holidays and the extra activities they entail such as gift shopping, attending and/or hosting parties, traveling and/or housing family and friends, decorating, and so on. At work we are writing and conducting performance reviews, budgeting, setting goals for next year, compiling reports, finishing projects, wrapping up sales, and closing our books, etc. No wonder, we feel overwhelmed with the additional year end responsibilities!

Because the last week of December looms as a deadline, we feel a greater sense of urgency to complete everything. Here are some suggestions to decrease your stress:

  • Identify what's urgent vs what's important. Focus only on the items which are both important and urgent first.
  • Review the expectations that you have of yourself and others. Are they realistic? Give yourself and others a break.
  • During this hectic time of year, make time to recharge your batteries. This may mean missing a party, buying cookies instead of making them, not hitting every sale, etc.

  • For more information on managing multipe priorities while taking care of yourself, contact us for a workshop on this topic.
    Happy Holidays!

Bruce Goldberg at the Denver Business Journal interviewed Tiffany Dahlberg, President of Achievement Consulting & Training, and published an article in the December 1 - 7, 2006 edition. Read all about it in the "Street Talk" section on page A37.

If you're interested in learning more about how to motivate, reward, and recognize employees, please contact Tiffany Dahlberg at 720-373-2601.
